I was able to remove the second ground line I had attached to the turntable chasms (the old DIN cable also had a ground cable both had to be hooked up to minimize noise). Bottom line many thanks! The cable arrived and at first I couldnt get the speakers to work but I realised the switch on the speakers had to be set to line rather than left and right so the problem is now sorted.
